Body Contouring after Weight Loss

Individuals who have experienced massive weight loss (100 pounds or more) are left with loose, excess skin and often are interested in body contouring. Body contouring can include one or multiple operations to correct loose and heavy skin folds left around the arms, thighs, breasts, buttocks, face and abdomen.

Surgeons at Southeastern Plastic Surgery have helped many individuals with body contouring following significant weight loss after bariatric surgery.

A Lower Body Lift is one of the most common procedures following dramatic weight loss. An incision is made around the lower trunk. The abdomen is flattened and the thighs and buttocks are lifted.

Arm lift surgery, also called a brachioplasty, removes the excess skin of the upper arm. Surgery can last from one to two hours with mild to moderate discomfort. Patients may experience some swelling and most return to work within three to seven days.

back to topSpider Vein Injections (Sclerotherapy)

Sclerotherapy is using a high concentration of saline solution to inject into the spider veins, causing them to collapse and subsequently disappear. This procedure takes approximately an hour. Afterwards you will have small bandages and will wear compression hose for 3 days. Side effects may include bruising, small areas of irritation at the injection sites, darkening or lightening of the skin where the veins were, and blushing (creation of new fine veins). Your veins may take 2-4 weeks to heal, and often times a second treatment is needed.
