What Does Renuvion Do?

Renuvion is an FDA-cleared skin tightening device. The handheld Renuvion device is inserted via small incisions in the skin to deliver a combination of thermal radiofrequency (RF) energy and cold plasma energy beneath the skin’s surface. This release of energy targets the deep layers of skin below the surface and does not damage the outer layers of skin. The energy released from Renuvion causes immediate skin contraction to tighten and lift the skin while also triggering the body’s natural healing process, which generates new collagen and elastin to form over time. This results in tighter, smoother skin that is revealed over the course of a few months.

Renuvion can be used on its own to tighten lax skin on the face and neck, or it can be combined with liposuction to firm and tighten lax skin. This helps achieve smoother, more youthful contours on the body and under the chin.

When Renuvion is used for facial contouring, fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging jowls are lifted and firmed, resulting in a more youthful appearance as you heal.

When used in combination with liposuction, Renuvion can help improve the outcomes of the liposuction procedure, creating a firmer, smoother result than liposuction alone. No additional incisions are required for Renuvion. The device is inserted into the openings where the liposuction device has been used to remove the excess fat, enabling your surgeon to tighten and lift loose skin immediately following the fat removal.

How Many Renuvion Treatments Will I Need?

Renuvion only requires one treatment to achieve results. The energy released acts immediately to tighten the skin, then as the body heals following the treatment, new collagen is produced, resulting in smoother, firmer skin over the next few weeks.

Does Renuvion Hurt?

To ensure your comfort during a Renuvion treatment, your provider will use either a local anesthetic with sedation if he performs a facial contouring procedure, or he will use a general anesthetic for patients who combine Renuvion with liposuction.

What Areas Can Renuvion Treat?

Renuvion can be used to lift and tighten loose, sagging skin on the face, neck, and body. During one treatment session, Renuvion can be used to treat multiple areas, including:

  • Double chin
  • Jowls and jawline
  • Upper arms
  • Sides and back
  • Bra fat
  • Stomach
  • Love handles
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Flanks
  • Buttocks

Renuvion is best for patients who have mild to moderate lax or sagging skin. For patients with excess skin, Dr. Kirbo and Rosenberg may recommend a facelift, neck lift, tummy tuck, arm lift, or lower body lift to surgically remove excess skin. During your consultation, your surgeon will discuss your goals and options and will recommend the best treatment for your needs.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Results from Renuvion are immediate, causing an immediate contraction of the skin, resulting in some preliminary skin tightening.

However, it takes 6 to 9 months for your skin to fully heal and for new collagen to develop resulting in long-lasting smoother, tighter skin.

What Is Recovery Like?

Following a Renuvion treatment, most patients can return to normal activities within a week. Since Renuvion treatments require making incisions in the skin, you can expect to experience some swelling and bruising for 1 to 2 weeks following treatment. Any discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

For liposuction patients, your provider will recommend wearing a compression garment for 4 to 6 weeks to minimize swelling and optimize results. He will prescribe pain medication to ensure your comfort as you recover.
