TCA & Phenol Peels

What Is a Physician-Performed Chemical Peel?

Physician-performed chemical peels such as phenol peels and 35% TCA peels are the deepest type of chemical peels. They penetrate the skin deeper than spa-grade peels to address more significant imperfections such as blotchiness, coarse skin, wrinkles, and acne scars. Compared to light chemical peels and medium chemical peels, deep chemical peels have more dramatic results, and typically only a single treatment is required. Deep chemical peel recovery is more lengthy when compared to milder chemical peels.

What Do They Treat?

Deep chemical peels are the most aggressive type of chemical peels for improving skin’s appearance. They are an effective remedy for severely sun damaged skin, coarse skin, deep wrinkles, scars, and even pre-cancerous growths. They are so powerful that only one treatment is necessary to achieve dramatic results that last for years.

What Is Recovery Like?

Because the procedure typically results in pronounced swelling, patients are advised to allow for at least a week of at-home recovery after undergoing a deep chemical peel.

Who Is a Candidate?

Not all patients are candidates for advanced chemical peels; some patients are better served by a medium chemical peel or another skin resurfacing option such as microdermabrasion.
