Our skin is one of the first areas to show signs of stress and aging. As the years go by, many people struggle with facial veins and sunspots around the eyes, nose, and mouth. These imperfections can age the face and make men and women look older than they feel. Luckily, with laser vein removal at Southeastern Plastic Surgery, these issues can be a thing of the past.

We’re proud to help countless patients in the Tallahassee and North Florida area enjoy beautiful, revitalized skin. In this blog post, we’ll answer several commonly asked questions about laser vein removal.

How does laser vein removal work?

Sun exposure, age, genetics, or high blood pressure can all create prominent facial veins. During a photofacial treatment, intense pulsed light (IPL) penetrates the top layer of skin to target the hemoglobin inside these unwanted veins.

Does IPL vein removal hurt?

Laser vein removal is a simple, straightforward procedure. IPL patients may experience some slight discomfort. Many compare the sensation to that of a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Any lingering discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

How much does laser vein removal cost?

Photofacial pricing depends on the area being treated. Smaller areas (such as the hands) start at $250, while a full photofacial package of 3 treatments starts at $955. Your provider will be able to analyze your target areas and give you a customized quote during your consultation.

What is laser vein removal recovery like?

IPL is a nonsurgical treatment, so no extensive recovery period is required. Patients may feel a slight bump on the skin above the treated vein with minimal downtime.

Can IPL treat spider veins in the legs?

While a photofacial can successfully address veins along the face and other areas, spider veins in the legs are better suited to sclerotherapy treatments. Unlike laser vein removal, sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the target veins. If you would like to learn more about a treatment plan or even book a session, discuss your options with your provider.

Veins and sunspots are a natural part of aging, but that doesn’t mean you have to struggle with uneven skin. Laser vein removal is a simple way to clear your complexion and help you feel confident in your own skin.
